I am running Windows 98SE and IE5.5. When attempting to Scan For
Updates at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp, I get
the error given in the subject line: 0x800A138F.
The troubleshooting page has an entry for this error but only for
Windows2000 and WindowsXP (if memory serves) operating systems. The
subject line says that error 0x800C0008 will show in the Windows
Update log file.
My Windows Update log file shows the error as 0x800C0002. On the
chance that the errors might be related, I looked at the
recommendations for said problem when it occurs with 2000 and XP. I
am clean on all of them.
I was able to update Windows in July using the above procedures with
no problem, installing critical updates at that time. I've scanned
the microsoft groups for a similar problem, i.e., same combination of
error codes, and cannot find any.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
