WindowsXP Update Error
Posted by Insight on February 18th, 2004

Does anyone know why I got this message?

Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in
your computer's time setting.

To check your date and time setting:

On the taskbar, double-click the time.

Verify that the date and time is correct.

You can also get online support if you are having problems with Windows
Update.

Send error number to Microsoft (0x800C0008)

Note This sends error information but does not create a support incident;
you may or may not receive a response.

Insight,

Can you please take a look at the following KB:

Wininet retries POST requests with a blank header
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;831167

Install the update and try Windows Update again.

Do you still get the error?

Lucy,

The site you gave me does not solve my problem, but I able to update only if
I set the "System crytography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encrytion,
hasing, and signing**" to Disable. Why is this a problem?

Any advice?
