WinUpd Not in Default Language
Posted by Tommer on August 15th, 2003

I am having a strange issue on several ( if not
all ) of my WNT4 machines - On 8-12,
windowsupdate.microsoft.com displayed in english
correctly - Now, it seems to be in Dutch. I have checked
the settings in Internet Explorer and in the Control
Panel - Reginal Settings and English is the only language
that is loaded. Any thoughts?

Hi Tom,

I am trying to get an NT 4 machine together to try to reproduce the problem
that you are seeing...

In the meantime, go to the Windows Update site and choose the "Windows
Update Worldwide" menu option. When the page displays, there will be a list
of links to the other languages, look for the link that takes you to
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp. (Turn on the Status
Bar in Internet Explorer, under the view menu to see the path to the web
page). When you click on the link, it should take you to the English page.

Let me know if this solves your issue.

One more thing:

If your lanuage is Dutch, the "Windows Update Worldwide" menu option is
translated to "Windows Update Internationaal"

Anyways, it's the right most menu (5th one over from the left) under the
"Microsoft Windows Update" heading

As I logged in to try your fix, the site was now
displaying as English. Must have been somehting on the
auto discovery part of windowsupdate on grabbing my
language file.

I think it is OK now.

Thanks! Tom
