It keeps saying it can not update due to discrepancy in
time, but I have check and checked and the time is
correct. How can I rectify this problem?

If the problem persists please post the last 20-30 lines of the Windows
Update.log file.

To view the Windows Update.log file:

Copy and paste "%windir%\windows update.log" (w/o the quotes)
into the Internet Explorer address bar and hit Enter.
Scroll down to the current date and look for the error being reported.
Post the last 20 lines of the log file
