- WU Probs - SUGGESTIONS FOR POSTING

Just a suggestion, but I think this would all be a lot
more constructive if people with this problem would
include the following info......
How far does your windows update get?
What error message do you then get (if any)?
What is the error message in Windows Update.log (search
for it)
What is your OS?
Who is your ISP?
What anti-virus / firewall setups do you have?
If you open the MSDOS Prompt and type 'ping
download.windowsupdate.com' (without the quotes) do you
get an answer or an error?
Does modifying the HOSTS file (see prior posts) work for
you?
I think this is nearly all a DNS resolution problem on the
internet in response to changes made by MS and private
ISPs because of the blaster worm and will likely all be
resolved soon. The question is: when?
In the meantime, if Windows Update can scan for updates
and give you a list, write them all down and search
microsoft's site for them and apply them manually.

Good suggestions, Dan!
Many posts are very vague.
If you need help, please provide succinct, specific details, aand try to put
a descriptive subject line on your post as well.
Just saying "need help" is redundant, as why else would you be posting?
Thanks.
DG
