I purchased a new computer a few months ago. It continues
to freeze and crash. I can not defrag or do a clean
disk... Reinstalling does not help.... I am sick of
updates and the lack of support from the microsoft
website. I have tried to run a boot disk and it froze at
the 3rd disk with a microsft error. Why did microsoft
release a program that is so unstable?

Does anyone know how to uninstall xp i just want my
Windows ME back...

I don't have any problems at all with Windows XP which I have installed on
two different PCs. If you purchased a computer with XP installed, then the
company you purchased it from is responsible for support.

Windows XP is generally far more stable than Windows ME.

Since you have reinstalled, this looks like a hardware problem.
Power off open case and reseat all cards and cables.
Go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and get their hard
drive diagnostic application.

What did the computer manufacturer say when you contacted them about
this possible hardware problem?

my computer is doing the exact same thing. I have an HP
ze1250 laptop. Any time I try to defrag or perform a
virus scan or any type of intensive operation it freezes
up (hangs). It throws in a few random freezes withing
the first 10 minutes to 1 hour of operation just to keep
me on my toes. Likewise, I haven't been able to keep it
running for more than 1.0 hour in a long time. Any luck
with the hard drive?
