i recently installed all the software which i used e.g.
office, winamp, winrar etc. and everything was working
fine untill i installed the criticals updates from
microsoft!! it would freez on a regular basis after that!
there was no one triger, it was just do it when ever it
felt like it...
i think did a system restore to before the updates were
installed, and everything is fine.... i just installed
the windows updates (not the critical ones) and it's
fine, haven't had a freez since!

is there one critical update that stands out for makin xp
freez? or should a do it one by one still one stands out?

It is usually best to install updates no more than 3 at a time for
just this reason.
Try that until you find the particular update.

Be sure to disable all unnecessary applications including anti virus
before updating.
