- XP Update problem - Update Now button repeatedly displays
- Posted by Nathan on July 4th, 2003
I just now resolved this issue on my computer, and was
coming back to post a happy message. My system is a
newly installed Windows XP Professional with Service Pack
1. I read the fixes suggested to you, try this instead:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
You want the section on "Manual installation instructions
for Windows Update controls."
I had tried a few of the other fixes suggested to you,
including the one on that page that seemed more directly
relevant, but I actually had to undo those before this
fix worked. If you replace the files that fix told you
to delete, it has a better chance of working.
Hope it helps,
Nathan

Nathan,
If you used a newsreader instead of the web based CDO interface you
would see I've already recommended that suggested resolution in my
last post. See if you can configure a newsreader such as Netscape
Messenger, Outlook Express, Forte, etc. to view the newsgroups and
derive greater results from them.

I just came across this thread and tried the suggestions to no avail on my
system. Anyone else still having the problem?
