- XP Update : Updates(most) fail to install

Hi All
Hope you might be able to help me. Following downloading
of updates, I get a message that 'software has not passed
XP...etc...........and has not been installed'
Although the occasional update does install OK, most are
not doing so despite repeated attempts.
Possibility of some kind of virus/corrupted portion of
update files??
Any help much apppreciated.
