XP windows update not updating
Posted by Pinger on October 20th, 2003

I am running XP and i get the standard "To install items
from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If
your computer is connected to a network, network policy
settings may also prevent you from completing this
procedure."
..
now I get this even though I am logged in as an
administrator with full privelages. I have even created
a new account with full privelages and windows update
failed to run giving me the same error. I did the "right
click the windows update and select "Run as" and i got
the same erroe all over again. I went through all of the
windows trouble shooter files to try and fix this and did
everything that they say to do and I STILL get this
error. Any possible info other than installing Red Hat?

antivirus program I was using was causing it. I disabled
the program during the update process and everything
worked fine. Hope this helps you out.
