Windows Update... If you go to control panel, then
Automatic Updates and click on Restore Hidden Items that
should make all the updates you've declined, and hopefuly
the ones that failed, reappear... Which they should...
Oh, if that files try this, it worked for this guy, Cut
and Pasted from another post:
-------------------------------------
It seems that many of the DNS servers in the world are
pointing to an old IP address for Microsoft.

In an earlier post I founs a suggestion from someone that
suggested addin an entry in your hosts file.

The easiest way to find this file is do a find / search
for hosts . The file in question has no extension.
It is only hosts.

Open the file with notepad and add a line at the bottom as
such (copy past will work)

208.172.158.234 download.windowsupdate.com

Then close and reopen your internet browser (all of them)
and then type the above address,
(download.windowsupdate.com) on the address line. It will
take you to a windows update site just like always. But
for some reason from here, the downloads work. From the
site you reach by clicking on the windows update shortcut
in IE, it doesn't.

Hope this helps. I have downloaded about 20 updates this
way so far.

I am guessing that eventually this will get fixed and you
can take the entry out of the hosts file.

I tried it, it didn't do anything to screw it up more, and
you can always delete the entry you made...
The file I found on ME was actually named Hosts.Sam not
just Hosts...

If that fails, Try searching for Updates on your HDD and
deleted anything that looks like a Windows Update folder...
Mainly C:\Program files\WindowsUpdate
I did it, it didn't help my problem but it may help
yours...And install IE6 LAST, I repeat LAST... if you
didn't read my other post on the page before this one, #2
at the moment...
