maybe someone here can help me. I just upgraded to
internet explorer six via the windows update section, I
also downloded all of the suggested downlodes. Now I get
you have performed an illegal operation on stuff,
scandisk, solitare, defragment. Why??????

Something probably went wrong.
Did you install all the updates at one time?
Or did you install them a few at a time?
If so uninstall them and see if issue goes away.
Otherwise perform a system Restore to date/time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
When you install updates:
Reboot
Disable all unnecessary applications including antivirus.
Install updates no more than 4 at a time.
Reboot

You sure that it does not say that the program has performed an illegal
operation and must be shut down?
