- zip files
- Posted by Leno on August 28th, 2003
When someone using AOL sends two or more attachments of
photos, I get them in a compressed zip file which I cannot
open. I'm using Windows 98 2nd addition. My daughter has
the newest Windows and has the ability to split the
attachment and bring up the jpeg files (photos). Is there
a fix?

Leno,
Sounds like you need an unzip utility.
E.g. shareware like WinZip or freeware such as FreeZip.
You are correct that Windows XP finally supports this file type
without the need of third-party programs.
(You get what you pay for.)
BTW this is off-topic for this newsgroup.
It looks like you are using the web interface, probably entered via
the Windows Update page. This unfortunately makes it unobvious
that you are in fact posting in an NNTP newsgroup which would be
accessed better via a real newsreader such as Outlook Express.
If you would like to try that method to find a more appropriate newsgroup
instead copy the following link to your Address bar and press Enter.

Alternatively, you can access an equivalent list of newsgroups via

Good luck
