2 boxes on my desktop
Posted by LATONYA BONNER on March 30th, 2006

i have 2 boxes on my desktop that will not close. i have uninstalled the program to which they belong and restarted my computer thinking they would go away. they are still there. what do i do to get rid of them? one box has an "X" in the top corner, but will not close. the other box has options such as "next" and "cancel." --

What was the "application" (program) you thought was causing them?
What else does the box say?
In your Task Manager and Processes - what's there?
(Or - Start --> Run --> CMD --> tasklist.exe > c:\processes.txt then open
that file with Notepad and past the results here.)

Shenan,
actually the answer to the post above mine entitled "blue box on left
screen" gave me the answer that helped. it said to go to the following
website for the removal of common tasks from desktop:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...sk_desktop.htm.

i followed the direction of the website and it worked. thank you for
responding to my post.
