- AGP Aperature
- Posted by Christopher on September 24th, 2005
I have tried to get HP to release a BIOS update that would allow end users to
change AGP aperature size. HP is not user-friendly and does not provide
solutions, just negative responses. The retail version of my ASUS mobo
allows for users to change AGP aperature size in the BIOS. This is a major
hindrance and a waste of money to buy a decent videocard when the aperature
is only 64.
Is there a software based program that will change the aperature size?

Christopher,
It's my understanding that the AGP Mode & AGP Aperture Size is locked
by the motherboards physical transfer ability, and the bios.
HP may not want to write a newer bios utility for your older computer,
if they can sell you a newer faster computer.
You may be stuck with the limitations built into your computer. I
assume that you had 64mb. of shared video memory on this machine when
you bought it.
The only suggestion I have for you is to look into building your next
computer yourself. You get to spec out and price what you really want,
along with some overhead for upgrading in the future.
Best,

It was actually sold with a 128MB Geforce card. If I hadn't gotten three HP
computers for free I would have built my own. If I could only get these
three POS sold. What I need to know is if there is another way to make a
change in the BIOS through windows for the AGP aperature size. I emailed
"Mr. Bios" and they are in the midst of a bios update. Hopefully they
include this fix.
