I use AOL as my email provider and I have noticed via Windows Task Manager
that AOL loads a file called aolsoftware.exe. This file remains open even
when AOL is not open, and it uses a significant amount of my system CPU. I
have learned from several sources that the program should not be deleted, but
is it safe to close it with the Windows Task Manager "End Process" command if
AOL is not running? I know aolsoftware.exe will restart when AOL is opened
again, but that's OK.

AOL loads a ton of software on a pc simply for an internet connection.
You can stop the service,however another AOL service might require it,&
stopping them can corrupt the software,but a reinstall is easy if needed..
At one time a distant friend used AOL with only the internet connection
software
only,try calling them.
