Blank Welcome Screen for XP
Posted by NaturesSeer@hotmail.com on September 28th, 2005

ok, so I use Windows XP, and when I boot my computer up I get a blank
welcome screen. I've read some of the other help files on this subject,
which suggests that I either start my computer in Safe Mode and use the
administrator account or Edit my registry because I got a virus that
tinkers with it. I've checked my Registry (by hand for exactly that
line of code and then other known trouble spots), which is clean and
safe. I also tried fixing it in the admin account, but whenever I bring
up the user accounts box, It says this account isn't recognized and
tells me to reset my computer (I get this no matter what account I use,
including the Admin account). I need Help....and I don't want to have
to format my computer.

I am on a E-machine that runs a windows XP, service pack two, with an
AMD athalon 3200, with Microsoft antispyware, and Norton Anti Virus.
The problem first showed up before I installed service pack two or
Microsoft antispyware, and persisted after I installed them both. Any
Help, please.
