Boot performance degrades
Posted by Christopher on March 4th, 2006

Just wondering why upon installing a clean version of XP pro the boot screen
knight rider looking thing moves across twice and brings up the user screen,
but after installing a few programs, it takes the knight rider looking thing
four or more times across before the logon screen comes up. Why such a
longer time in boot performance after a few programs. I can understand more
registry entrees and more crap on the hard drive tkaes it longer to find
everything, but come on.

Does anyone know how to speed this up?

Yes but doesn't everything nowadays? Even if I do a selective startup it
still takes just as long.
