Boot-up hangs in Windows XP Home
Posted by woodum@nccn.net on October 7th, 2005

When I boot up, it is suddenly very slow and sometimes does not bring
up my personal settings. After it checks the floppy and the CD-ROM
drives, it hangs at the CD-ROM drive and will not go any further
sometimes. Sometimes it will make it all the way to the desktop, but
continues to check the CD-ROM drive and the CD icon flashes
periodically next to the cursor until I open the CD-ROM drawer. That
always "fixes" it until the next time a boot up. It also seems to be a
random thing.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Harry, go into the Bios and set the hard drive as first boot device.
See if that helps any. It can be found usually under
Advanced Bios Settings.
