Bulk renaming of files
Posted by Ecka on January 11th, 2006

I need to rename about half of the thousand or so files in a specific
directory to get rid of the prefix and just leave the descriptive file name.

Is there a way to do this in Windows XP?

Any help is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks in advance

No. But you can do this with third-party software like the Total
Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/).

Magic File Renamer can do this and much more. It's not free but it does the
job well.
