- Can damaged program files be deleted?
- Posted by Hummer5 on March 16th, 2006
Although I consider myself an intermediate PC user, I am more of a novice
when it comes to settings and configurations. Today after accessing
Tools/Internet Options/Settings/View Objects, I noticed the following two
files showing "status damaged".
{49232000-16E4-426C-A231-62846947304B}
{9F1C11AA-197B-4942-BA54-47A8489BB47F}
Can these programs be deleted without any adverse effects? Thanks.
Also, the following three files are shown as "status unknown" and no
creation date shown.
{33564D57-9980-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}
{41F17733-B041-4099-A042-B518BB6A408C}
{E7DBFB6C-113A-47CF-B278-F5C6AF4DE1BD}
Can the above programs also be deleted without any adverse effects? Thanks.

I would not at this point. Right Click on these and look
at the properties. The name of the application/plug in
should be named. Copy these down and include them. Hint - if
you have an earlier version of sun java, it will show as
damaged, which is not true. The other plug ins/programs may
be ok. You can usually update these by using the url in the
properties sheet.
