- Can't get into Add/Remove windows components
- Posted by Madala on October 16th, 2005
I have been trying to get into the Add/Remove windows components to reinstall
Windos Messenger since I keep getting messages that it cannot start when I
start Media Center. Whenever I click on the Add/Remove option, instead of
starting, I get this message:
Setup was unable to open information file hide..
Contact your System Administrator. The specific error code is 0x7b at line
2088999411.
After the word 'hide' there are a number of special characters that look
like squares and things. I have tried running Setup directly and it says to
go back to Control Panel and use Add/Remove.
What is the hide?? file and how do I get past this?

Madala,
Click Start, Run and type:
%windir%\inf\sysoc.inf
Post the contents of the file here.

Dear Ramesh,
I am facing the same problem. When I try to launch Add/Remove wizard it says
that another version of the program is already running. I have noticed that
the file that is already running is "sysocmgr.exe" so I used Task Manager to
manually interrupt it. Then I tried to launch the wizard again and I have
received the following error (in Italian)
Impossibile caricare la libreria di installazione Ts0c.dll oppure trovare la
funzione HydraOC. Rivolgersi all'amministratore di sistema. Codice di errore
specifico 0x7e
in English that should be something like
Impossible to load the installation library Ts0c.dll or finding the function

I have followed the instruction you gave to Madala and here are the results
of typing "%windir%\inf\sysoc.inf"

Gianluca,
Extracting a copy of the file tsoc.dll from Windows XP CD should help.
Extract a copy here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\setup
Example:
Setup was unable to load the master information file:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sysocerror.htm
How to expand Windows XP files from the installation disk:

Worked ! THank you very much !
This is what I typed in the command line:
expand D:\i386\tsoc.dl_ -r c:\windows\system32\setup
and if worked perfectly !
The only mystery is how in the world that .dll disappeared.
Thank you again for your help and kindness.

Is this the same thing that I should try for my original problem?

OK, I admit, I am confused. I reread the thread and after I posted the
information that you requested I don't see any answer from you. What am I
ignoring?
