Can't get past select user screen - home edition

Can't get past select user screen - home edition: Posted by peteandcindy on April 6th, 2006; Hi-

I think we may have been infected with the black worm virus. So, I tried to
start up our machine, I see the select a user, click on a user, it says it's
loading the settings, but then it flashes our wallpaper, and then says
logging off and we're back to the select a user screen. I tried starting up
in safe mode, same thing, and I tried to restore last good profile, which
didn't work either.

Any ideas?
