brings up this error:

You're having trouble installing a game - have you contacted the game's
technical support? Or maybe you're having a problem with Installshield
Wizard (whatever that is) - have you contacted InstallShield technical
support?

I have yet to install a game. Not that there's anything wrong with
games...it's just not what I do.

My point is, your problem does not appear to be caused by Windows XP.
It's either being caused by the game or the InstallShield software. And
if it was caused by Windows XP, no one would know since you provided so
little detail in your question.

You didn't mention the Operating system version or how big the game is, so
here are some info read it and see what you will make out of it:
You receive the "Setup failed" error message when you use a very large setup
CAB file to install a program on a Pocket PC device

Another, try to remove/delete/uninstall the download and run disk cleanup
and check disk, then try the download on your Desktop and try the
installation, does it help?.

If no joy try to download the game on a CD/DVD from another PC and try the
installation.

In your scenario, it looks like the setup.dll is damaged or corrupted
resulted from a corrupt download or a temp folder!.

Note: don't try the fixes above if it doesn't apply to your situation.
