CCAPP.exe - failiure to shut down machine!
Posted by G E Minki on December 18th, 2005

I have automatic up-dates switched to automatic and a recent download causes
my computer to fail / freeze during shut down. An error message "CCAPP.exe
not responding" comes up.

If I do a restore from a previous date the problem goes away.

I let automatic up-dates do its stuff again today and the problem is
straight back again.

Any ideas??

Yes, turn off autonatic updates and install the updates one at a time until
you find which one is causing this to happen and then just don't install
that one.

CCAPP is a symantec program. Nothing to do with windows automatic updates.
There is a peice of malware called CCAPP as well so run microsoft
antispyware and adaware with updated definitions to be sure. As you seem to
have norton internet security CCAPP will be from that but check for spyware
just to be safe. You need to go to symantecs web site and search there for
help as this is specific to symantec not windows xp.

Thanks, Glen. I did discover that CCAPP is a Symantec program and have
followed their advice on the problem, but to no avail. I wrote to them about
it as well but got no advice that seemed to help. Perhaps I am not intuitive
enough to follow it. Anyway, I came here, searching for information from
someone who might have solved a similar problem. I appreciate your response.
