- Computer interruptions due to something running all the time

How do I find out what is running on my computer every time I turn it on
(every couple of seconds the hourglass appears)? I am unable to play any
games because my computer keeps pausing as the hourglass appears.

Press Cntrl + Alt+ Delete to bring up the task manager and see whats
running. Also disable unwanted items from loading at boot using
start>Run>MSCONFIG utility, u can check ur start up list here
http://castlecops.com/StartupList.html.
Also keep your system free from spyware and viruses, run updated scans.
Make sure the HD is clean and defragmented. Run the disk clean up and
defrag.

Heidi
What anti-virus installed and does it automatically update virus
definitions?
What anti-spyware programmes are you using?
What Firewall are you using?
Is the Windows XP SP2 update installed?

Hope this helps.
