- Computer is Slow....Caused by too many files stored on the Desktop
- Posted by Dan on March 25th, 2008
I have many files, shortcuts, pictures ... stored on my Desktop and my
computer has been running progressively slower - Could the excessive number
of files, pictures and other items cause the slow performance of the machine
???

The number of files stored on your desktop has no effect on the speed of
your computer. The desktop is merely a folder in your user account.
Most users find it more convenient to store their files in My Documents
and place shortcuts to the files on the desktop.
