- Damaged ActiveX files in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files

I notice a number of the ActiveX files in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
have the status "damaged". What does it mean, how could it have happened,
and what should I do about it?
On some, using the "update" menu item seems to change the status to
"installed", but on others, the "update" menu item seems to have no effect.

R.click on one of them, select update.

Thanks, but as I said below, that only fixes some of them. Any idea whey
they are "damaged" in the first place?
