- defragmentation chkdsk/f
- Posted by tina on January 8th, 2008
I really need help with this one. I am trying and trying to defragment my PC
but every time is bringing me out that: Disk Defragmenter has detected that
chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: HDD(C
. Please run chkdsk/f.
I run it but isn't recognise it. Then I run chkdsk and is writing that is
only for reading. The PC has slow down and continually I have the message
that the virtual memory is to low.
Anybody out there to help???????????????

Open system properties/advanced/performance/virtual memory/change
button, set C: to "let system manage" click set 2X,close out,a restart should
be prompted..As for disk chk,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree,type:EXIT Restart pc After the 2 restarts,reopen cmd,type
efrag C:

i am having the same problem as Tina, every time, lately, that i have tried
to defrag C:, i get this message: Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk
is scheduled to run on volume: C: Please run Chkdsk/f.
being a computer novice, how do i open system properties so that i may
carry out the solution that was passed on to Tina?

Are you running your computer 24/7 ? Have you checked to see if
restarting your computer clears the message?
