How do I use the Defrag command in MS-DOS and what is a volume identifier, I
need an example of how to type in the defrag command...NEW USER

DOS defrag does not work for Windows XP.

You can defrag from a cmd prompt. The syntax is available by clicking on the
Start button, Click on Help and Support, type defrag in the box and click on
the green arrow beside the box you typed in. To defrag drive c: the syntax
would be "defrag c:" without the quotation marks.

Open a command prompt...
Start | Run | Type: cmd | Click OK |
Type:
defrag /?
Hit your Enter key.
/? displays help.
