Desktop minimizing when waking from sleep mode
Posted by MRSCUCCH on April 7th, 2006

Hi,
For some reason when my computer goes to sleep from lack of use, the entire
screen minimizes when it returns and there is about a 2 1/2 inch black border
around the entire desktop screen. Anyone have a clue as to why and/or how to
fix?

Also sometimes when waking from sleep or even when turning on from being
shut down the screen starts out with millions of gray/black speckles and
starts to slowly convert pixle by pixle it seems to a black screen. There is
no desktop, no icons, but you can hear it running in the background. The only
way to get out of it is a hard shut down.

If someone could help with either or both of these problems, that would be
great!

I am running Windows XP on a Dell INspiron 8100 laptop.

thanks

Thanks for the website but my problem is not listed here and without a
support plan they wont help me any further. For now, I have extended the time
that the computer goes into stand by mode so that it wont happen so often.
