- Explorer.exe repeatedly quits unexpectedly in Windows XP
- Posted by Eddie on April 19th, 2006
I'm using Windows XP Professional ver 5.1 with SP2 installed on it. I
recently got hotfix "Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer". Now
everytime my windows starts and I go to my C drive, an error occurs that
"Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." My explorer restarts and I lose some of systray icons. I read
article ID: 883791, but it did not help me because in my Regedit there is no
folder called "Explorer" under category "Policies". I even do not have
"UseDesktopIniCache" key in Regedit when I search for it. My "desktop.ini" in
Windows folder is empty. Please let me know how to fix this problem.
