How do i remove access 97 without the disk?
Posted by Richard on April 26th, 2006

Hi
I have aquired a computer with access 97 installed and i would like to
remove it prior to installing the full Office 2003 suite. I'd really like to
remove it first so that i am certain of a clean install and don't keep
thinking of it evry time i have a problem with data access in the future!
However i don't have the installation disk and it says 'setup cannot run
without your programs diskettes' when i try to remove it using add/remeve
programs.
Could anyone help me?

Kind regards,
Richard

I doubt if that would work, as Office 97 isn't a .msi package.

AFAIK you need the disc to uninstall it, (or a copy of the files thereon)
there is no other method.

HST I don't think there will be any major issues. The settings are stored in
the registry, and successive versions use their own registry keys, e.g.
HKDU\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0

Personally, I would just re-format and re-install both Windows and Office.
