- How to stop Windows Media Player "Connecting"
- Posted by Alien on November 15th, 2005
Every time I play an mpeg file, Media Player says "Connecting" for
about 3 seconds before it plays the actual file, does anyone know how
to stop it from doing this? It gets pretty annoying to have to wait
when you're trying to play different files.

All of my MPEG files do the same. The 'connecting' you see doesn't actually
mean that it is making an external connection, just that it is connecting to
the mpeg file on your machine. If you have ZoneAlarm's icon in the
notification area, you can see that no communications are going out of your
computer because is doesn't change to 'traffic'. It's no big deal.
