I Killed Windows System Restore
Posted by pro4art on January 1st, 2008

OS XP Home. Doing a dowload of Adobe 8.1, clicked restart when done.
Restarted, and never got past the XP welcome screen again.
What I did after was everything wrong, and too long a list to post. When i
finally was able to go online again, for some reason Restore wouldn't work at
the last good start point, and I didn't go further back as I had had problems
of a minor nature before. I should have, as I could have cured the minor
problems. My big mistake was not getting help at this point, and I did a PC
Restore, which went back to day one, 4 years ago.
Of course this killed Sysyem Restore, with no Restore points available prior
to 12/28/07, my last good point.
Scanned with Windows Onecare, and Windows Safety
How can I get a Restore point to get the PC back to before 12/28/07?

You Are Under arrest, you have the right to be silence ......LOL.
Okay let's get serious here, Do you mean System Restore or System Recovery?.
There a lot of Difference and confusion here, the system Restore can be
access from:
Start >> All programs >. accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore, a
calender will open and you have three choices:
( ) Restore my computer to an earlier time
( ) Create s restore point
( ) Undo my last restoration

So if you done a Restore to an earlier date choice, you can undo it.

If you start the System Recovery and recovered your system to Factory
settings then you are under Arrest (just joking) you lost all restore Points
for good!.

So can you be clear about what procedure you performed!.
HTH.

Oh well, guess I am screwed now. I did both, several attempts at "Restore",
and in desperation, "Recover".
