What do you mean flatten? Do you mean format as in wipe the drive clean?
You shouldn't need any software if you have the installation disk, all you
should have to do is change your cmos settings to look at the cd/dvd drive
first and then the installation disk can reformat, clean, your hardrive for
you.

To flatten computer:

1. Phone city hall and enquire as to the nearest location where street
repaving is occurring
2. Take computer to location obtained in No. 1
3. View the area around and locate steamroller
4. Place computer on the ground in said steamroller's path, preferably
horizontallly
5. Wait for steamroller to pass over computer
6. Retrieve computer and examine closely. If not sufficiently flat,
repeat from No. 4 until satisfied.
