- Infected files
- Posted by Stewart Fluney on May 27th, 2008
I have isolated two infected files as a result of running the virus program.
They are:
1. A0053961.exe, location - C:\System Volume Information\_restore,
Virus-Win 32:
Adware-g...
2. kmd133_en.exe, location - C:\Program Files\KaZaA\My Shared Folder, Virus
- Win 32: Adware-g...
Can you advise me if these files can be removed or is it wise to wait for
some time to ensure this causes no problem? I have not noticed any
difference but do not have the expertise to actually know if their absence
has caused a problem.
I have a Dell Dimension 4100 Desktop computer with Windows XP - Home Edition
- Operating System - Service Pack 2, Pentium 111 with 930 MHZ, 20 GB Hard
Drive and 512 MB of RAM. The file system is FAT 32.
Many thanks for your co-operation and advice.

Stewart
If you turn System Restore off and then ack on again does that get rid
of item 1. Restore points with virus in are of no value.

Hope this helps.

If in doubt, rename them first and reboot, see if that causes any probs.
Though, from the names they are almost certainly spyware/adware.
