- Installation issue of xp sp2
- Posted by --Bubbles on April 17th, 2006
I've basically spent the past 3 weeks trying to get xp sp2 re-installed onto
my desktop computer after my latest system restore, and I have yet to get a
positive result. I've searched the inet for a solution but haven't seen
anything similar to this. What happens is this...
I have the sp2 update already downloaded off of Windows Update. When i start
the installation, it gets to "inspecting current configuration" and just
hangs with the "system" process at about 60% cpu power and "update" at about
40%, even after i cancel the installation. I have had sp2 on my computer
before the latest system restore, and i really want to install the trial
version of visual studio lol.
Help will be appreciated and many hugs to the one who solves my problem

This may help:

But if it is a mew installation, you may be better off starting over.
This time slipstream SP-2 in to Windows XP:
