IRQ distribution

WXP pro,s.p.2, P3,866,750 memory, Asus CUV4x board, via vt82cg94z(via apollo
pro 133z), via via82c686a pci set.

In device manager the IRQ distribution is as follows: NIC(9),AGP 4X
card(9),modem(9),audio(9),2USB 1.1 controllers (9),all listed as (pci).

IRQ 0,1, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15(listed as ISA)
IRQ 9 listed as acpi compliant system.

But my bios lists my NIC as 10 an my audio card as 5.
No conflicts are listed, the system works flawlessley. I enabled the
statement in bios to permit the OS to determine the resource distribution.
The only indication of a problem is in event viewer where an error arises on
startup "acpi system cannot access a certain memory level".

Should I set-up the individual card slots in the bios with what looks like a
more rational distribution of IRQ's ,and disable"let the OS determine the
resource distribution" , or should I leave it alone as there is no apparent
problem? The IRQ distribution just doesn't look right. Can someone refer a
good discussion of IRQ distribution in WXP to me. Thank you very much.

Ditto...don't mess with it. Windows XP uses a technology called IRQ
steering...Interrupt requests are handled by the OS rather than by the
motherboard...more efficient use of resources, and it can lead to the
"problem" you noted. for accounting purposes, several pieces of hardware
can use the same IRQ, but in truth the timing of requests is handled at a
different level. As long as all of your hardware is working normally, leave
it alone.
