- Microsoft Update not working

I recently removed SR 2 from my computer to try to fix a problem and now I
have a bigger problem. Microsoft Updates no longer works. I have tried all
the fixes suggested on the web site to make it work to no avail. Any ideas?

Try Start, Help and Support, Keep your computer up-to-date with
Windows Update.
You can opt for a Custom install. Try downloading and installing
and if it fails look in the Event Viewer logs for Error Reports.

I'm curious as to why you removed SP 2 ?
What kind of problem or situation led to this?
The process of removing service pack 2, just "may" have put back a much older (outdated) set of controls used by Windows Update.
A visit to http://update.microsoft.com should lead to a refresh of those controls.
Also curious about details of "not working". how? what?
Use Wordpad and open & look at the Windows Update log file
C:\WINNT\WindowsUpdate.log
(note your Windows folder may be at \Windows)
Scroll down all the way. You are looking for entries marked "Error" such as 0x......... (where ...... are numbers)
