mouse tracking
Posted by Debbie on March 21st, 2006

Suddenly, my mouse pointer has started tracking irregularly. I checked under
Device Mgr and it says all is working properly. I took it apart, cleaned the
ball as well as the rollers. Still the same problem. Any ideas?

Treat yourself to a new Mouse. I will promote my favorite here; the
Evoluent Vertical mouse which is NOT a gimmick, but rather makes a lot of
sense. This is the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. Your hand and
arm will Thank You.

In the past, I've had occasions where I've had to re-clean the
rollers/ball multiple times. You just don't always see all the tiny
particles & gunk that has built up on the rollers, especially.
Also....be sure to blow it out thoroughly with a can of compressed air,
being careful to NOT hold the nozzle too close to plastic components.
Now would also be a good time to clean/change your mouse pad. I offer
these suggestions even if you decide to take Peter's advise & get a new
mouse. Your cleaned-up old one can be a valuable spare. 8^)
