My friends laptop has all of his school work for the last two years on it and
has stopped booting, it will start for about 4 seconds then the power will
just cut off, the computer has never been connected to the internet so there
is very little chance of a virus (it has shared a USB key with connected
computers on occasion)
I have managed to get it to boot twice by completely cutting off the power,
the first time it booted after 2 minutes without battery or cable but
quickly froze and cut power again, the second time it took about 15 minutes
and worked fine right up till the mouse and keyboard stopped working, it
continued to run until we decided to shut it off manually (the off button
still worked)
Now it won't boot whatever i do, how can i fix this?
