ntbackup won't execute! stuck at int 3 - NEED HELP!
Posted by Westbrook on January 26th, 2008

When I invoke ntbackup, nothing appears to happen.

Doesn't matter if I invoke it from Start menu, or Run... or from the command
line.

Task Manager shows it running as a process, but there is no user interface
and nothing else is going on.

I invoked it from the command line with
C:\> backup /help

and still just got the process running in the Task Manager.

Invoking it again only spawns another process.

When I right click on the process and select "Debug", I see the following,
with the IP pointing at the last line.

7C901227 leave
7C901228 ret 4
7C90122B nop
7C90122C nop
7C90122D nop
7C90122E nop
7C90122F nop
7C901230 int 3

Looks like ntbackup is waiting for something or has encountered an
unrecoverable condition.

My guess is that it's some registry setting, but trolling for ntbackup in
the registry didn't turn up anything unusual that I could detect.

I deleted the executable and registry entries and re-installed ntbackup from
ntbackup.msi

Still no joy ...

Please help!
