i am currently playing a game called need for speed most wanted (a car game)
and when i change the video settings to high it plays with pauses but looks
good and i do not like the graphics on low, i thought i have a pretty
powerful computer to be able to run in high even know it is a new game.i am
running on a intel pentium 4 3.0ghz and ATI x300 128Mb Grpahics card and id
like to know if there is any way of getting rid of the pauses or stops during
the game, i looked in my device manager and noticed that there are two
display adapters installed and 2 processors which i am sure i only have one
processor, is it safe to uninstall one of them if not is there another way.
thanks in advance

Go to this website..
http://www.ea.com/official/nfs/mostwanted/us/home.jsp
When the page opens, click on the 'Game Support' tab (top right), and follow
it through to determine whether your graphics card is up to the job.. just
because your graphics card is fitted with 128mb does not necessarily make it
good for all types of game..

128mb on a graphics card is not a lot these days. Although your processor is
fast enough, if you want to play games in high resolutions you might need a
faster card with more memory. The pauses you mention sound like you sre
running in too high a resolution. Look through the game options and turn
them down and the pauses will stop. The games web site or readme file will
show the minimum specs needed to play and also might show the recomended
specs. That should give you an idea how you card is rated.
The two processeors listed are normal for hypertheading and duel core
processors. The two display adaptors are probably down to the graphics
card. Does it have two monitor outputs on the back? I don't know ATI cards
at all so check out on ATI web site to see the specs for the card before
removing anything in device manager. Also make sure you have the latest
drivers for the card and install them. Keep them handy in case you remove
the extra display adapter and it causes a problem.

I don't think a x300 is enough for playing NFS with all "dials fully
clockwise"...
