PC keeps rebooting
Posted by DJ Unleaded on October 14th, 2005

Hey guys,
I have a problem. My computer keeps rebooting while I'm online, pretty much
when I'm using Bearshare. I have dial-up (yeah it sucks especially since I
had high speed for 3 years) and I keep getting these error messages:

c:\\windows\minidump\mini101305-01.dmp
c: docume~1\will\locals~1\temp\were.tmp.dir\sysdata.x ml

I'm running XP home edition (SP1) on a Dell Dimension 4500
Pentium 4 1.80 GHz
256 MB Ram
40 Gig HD with 25.9 Gigs of free space

I use quite frequently McAfee VScan
Spybot, ZoneAlarm, Spyware Blaster & Ad-Aware SE. I'm quite sure the system
is clean. There's 2 admins on the system...myself & the wife...she goes in
her login & I go in mine...

is this a case where all I need is more RAM?

Thanks for the help

As tempted as I was to just say yes and then watch the responses...

This is not a case of throw hardware at it. In fact I don't know what it's a
case of - it could indeed be bad RAM but more wouldn't solve that - that
would just make diagnosing the problem more troublesome...

Alright... Reach down to your keyboard and find the WinKey - looks like the
Windows logo and might say start...
Press it and the Pause/Break button... You might need to (on a lappy) hit Fn
first or on a funky keyboard hit the F-Lock key...
(This brings up the system properties dialogue)

There?

Click the advanced tab. Click startup and recovery. UN-tick the
automatically reboot bit... Repost with the error that you capture and give
us the error number exactly. Else see here with your info:
