- performance and maintenance - defrag will not run

I have reconfigured check disk with the autocheck autochk* command in regedit
and the defragmentation will still not run, rebooted system it skipped the
chkdsk but
when attempting to run defrag message "Disk Defrag has detected Chkdsk is
scheduled to runon the volume C Please run chkdsk/f. Have attempted to run
chkdsk from MMC error does not have full access of drive and asked to re
schedule
Please help!
