- Performance Options

Does anyone find it helpful to change the Visual Effects from "Let Windows
choose what's best for my computer" TO "Adjust for best performance" to boost
PC performance in Windows XP Pro?

Totally up to you. If you like the special effects, choose "Adjust for
best appearance". If you prefer to eschew the glitz for an extra second
or so (depending on your hardware)of faster performance, choose "Adjust
for best performance." Or do what many of us do: Choose the Custom
control and pick what you like.
