- power problems... i think
- Posted by jontm2010 on March 5th, 2006
Hi, I have a win xp emachines 2.33 ghz 512 ram 80 gb hard drive and I am
experiencing problems with my computer. The problem is that when I start it
up the power turns off. I occasionally can make it to the start up login
screen or even the desktop, but at most it will function for 15 minutes and
then turn off again.
Sometimes, the power will randomly turn on even when no one presses the
power button. It is scary. Is it a power problem and can somebody help with a
solution?

case, the solution is to replace the power supply.

Jon
It could be the power supply or CPU fan.. remove the cover and check out the
fan for normal operation.. assuming that your computer remains up for enough
time, install SpeedFan and monitor the temperatures inside the case and fan
speed..
