Print Sharing Issues (Help Please)
Posted by ckmeusel@netzero.net on December 27th, 2007

Hello,

I have a small network which includes 3 computers (2 are hardwired to
a Netgear Wireless Router) and the 3rd is a wireless Laptop. All 3
have different Operating systems.

Netgear Wireless Router
Computer 1 - WIN 98
Computer 2 - WIN 2000 Prof - Printer Hardwired to this Computer (CANON
IP4000)
Computer 3 - Wireless Laptop (WINXP Home)

I have internet access on all 3 computers with no problems and I have
File/Print sharing enabled and can see shared folders from all
machines as well as the printer.
The 2 hardwired computers are able to share the printer and files.

However, the wireless laptop (WINXP Home) cannot print a test page
unless I change the printer parameters to direct print versus
spooling. This unfortunatley does not allow me to print from the
older 2 systems as it appears they need to have the printer spooling
feature enabled. When I put the Spooling preference back on then the
2 older machines (WIN98 and WIN2000Prof) then they are able to print
as before.

When I try to print a test page from the WINXP wireless laptop with
spooling enabled I can see the test print job being spooled and then
printed in the que and then the printer light flashes as if it were
going to print but does not. The que goes from spooling to printing
to disappearing out of the que as if the document was successfully
printed, however, nothing is printed.

Any ideas how I can get all three computers to print together with or
without the spooling feature enabled?

Thanks In Advance
