I had the same problem after removing a laptop from a domain which
pushed down group membership policies for the admin group. I found the
easiest way to fix it was to go into the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Group
Policy and delete the policies that pointed to the previous domain.
